Coyote Mint Family:
Mint (Lamiaceae) Grows to 8" in clusters. The leaves have a strong
mint odor when rubbed. Before the flower opens the hairy red bracts
which cup the closed buds appear pink. |

When open, the flowers are lavender, each with four
long stamens.
