Grows from 1 to 3 feet tall with stiff prickly hairs on the stem. Leaves have wavy edges and are hairy which gives them a grayish appearance. The flowers have five purplish petals united to form a star and five protruding yellow stamens. The plant produces a yellow tomato-like berry which is said to be poisonous.
