Grows 8" to 20". Similar to White Bog Orchid but flower spike is twisted and flowers do not have a spur. It also blooms earlier in the summer.

Habitat:
Wet to dry sandy soil.
Grows to 15" with 2-3 oblong, basal leaves. Flower spike is less tightly twisted than S. romanzoffiana above and grows at lower elevations. The flower has a strong odor of vanilla or almonds. The lip of the flower is finely scalloped and has a yellowish center. Flowers have narrow sepals the same color as the petals and is up to ½ inch long, opening out and creating a winged trumpet-like appearance.
