Grows to 3ft tall, shrub-like, with heart-shaped, veined, fuzzy, toothed leaves. Flower heads have purple-tinged phyllaries and less than 20 disk flowers, compared to Tasselflower below. Leaves differentiate from False Boneset.

Grows to 3ft with distinctive triangular leaves and drooping flower heads. Flowers have more than 20 disk flowers and are not purple-tinged compared to California Brickellbush.
