Life Zones: Montane to subalpine.
Habitat: Moist soil in woods, along streams and ditches

Grows to 7 feet tall in colonies. Leaves are large with varied shapes from simple to deeply divided and lobed. Flowers are large with a greenish-yellow, cone-shaped disk about ½" to ¾" across and drooping petals. Phyllaries under the flower head can be wide and almost 1" long.  arrow

The photo at left shows the Goldenglow early in its growth. The bracts and greenish cone head can be easily seen, as well as the variety of leaf shapes.
