Grows 4" to 18" tall with slender open branches from the base of a hairless stem, and few narrow leaves. Flower petals are a shiny, rich yellow with a hint of maroon at the base, the sepals below the petals, are narrow and pointed with an awn (bristle) at the tip.

Very similar in appearance to Bristle Flax above. Grows 4" to 20" tall with slender open branches above the middle and short, rough hairs at the base of the stem. Flower petals are evenly colored yellow or yellow-orange, the sepals are narrow and pointed.

Grows to 6" similar to Bristle Flax with wiry stems and narrow leaves but smaller. Stems and leaves have fine hairs. Flowers are less than 1" across and have five petals and a copper-colored center.
