Grows 3 to 5 feet tall, light yellow-green, with flat, shiny leaves up to 18" long and ½" wide. Flower head is an open, branched cluster of spikelets, spreading and drooping, up to 16" long. The spikelets are flattened and about ⅛" long, florets are purplish.
